June 20: Trip to the LACMA

Hi everyone!

Our next event will be on Saturday, June 20 at the LACMA.

This will be only one of a few times in the year that the museum has free admission. Details can be found in the link below:

We will take Metrolink to LA Union Station, then Metro D line to LACMA.
For the return trip, if you want to return early, you can take Metrolink again.
If you want to stay at LACMA until 7pm to see the parade, you can take Amtrak Pacific Surfliner.

Where to meet

Metrolink
If you haven't done yet, download the app. This is the easiest way to buy a Metrolink ticket.

Ticket dispenser is also available at the station.
Weekend ticket is $10 for all day, unlimited trip. This weekend ticket is only available on the day of the trip.

We will take OC1661 train, departing from Irvine at 9:21am.
For the return trip, you can take OC1668, departing from LA Union Station at 4:27pm.
The train often arrives a few minutes early. When it arrives early, it departs early. Give yourself enough time.

Metro D Line
Metro D Line is LA's subway line.
You can use your phone wallet to set it up.

You can download their apps and figure out payment there, too.
TAP App
The station has a ticket dispenser, but they require you to spend $2 for the physical TAP card, so set it up on your phone before the trip.

Amtrak (optional for the return trip)
The LACMA block party has a parade at 6pm. If you want to stay there to see the parade, you need to buy an Amtrak ticket.
Just like the Metrolink, Amtrak app is the easiest way to get the ticket.

We will take Pacific Surfliner 790, departing from LA Union Station at 8:10pm. The fare is $19.

Attire and Things to Bring
We will walk a lot. Wear comfortable shoes.
LACMA does not offer bag check, and you'll be asked to wear your bag in the front. Please pack light.
