Down the Bug hole : a tale of bugfixing (Bert Van de Casteele)

We hebben er allemaal mee te maken, of het nu in je eigen code of in die van het legacy project van een eeuwigheid geleden is : bugs. In deze talk proberen we zowel de psychologische kant van bughunting te bekijken, als de technische kant. We bekijken hoe we een bug strategisch kunnen opsporen en gaan we dieper in op step debugging en de tools die we hiervoor kunnen gebruiken om snel de 'offending code' op te sporen. Het fixen ervan is geheel voor eigen rekening :)

Wie is Bert?

Bert Van de Casteele praat te veel op z'n werk en te weinig in de PHP Community, waardoor hij nu z'n eerste voorzichtige stappen als speaker zet. Hij heeft altijd al debug werk moeten opknappen in zijn carriëre en zelfs bij het uitproberen van een nieuwe programmeertaal zoekt hij altijd eerst uit hoe hij de debugger aan de praat kan krijgen.

Going Serverless with Google Cloud Run (Bram Van Damme)

Cloud Run is a fully managed compute platform by Google that automatically scales stateless containers. By abstracting away all infrastructure management, us developers can focus on what matters most: building great applications. In this talk I'll show you not only how to deploy PHP/Node applications onto Cloud Run, but also how to create a build pipeline using either Google Cloud Build or Github Actions.

Wie is Bram?

Bram(us) Van Damme is a freelance developer from Belgium. From the moment he discovered the web way back in 1997, he fell in love with it and has been tinkering with it ever since.

With his company 3RDS he focuses on frontend development (HTML, CSS, JS), but he can also tackle the backend (PHP, MySQL) and related technologies (DNS, Docker, Serverless, etc.). His current focus is on JavaScript, React and React Native. Before launching 3RDS, Bramus worked at several web agencies in various frontend and backend roles. For seven years he also was a Lecturer “Web & Mobile Development” at a technical university in Belgium.

In his spare time Bramus likes to go Scuba Diving, both recreational as professional (PADI Divemaster #405966).
