Moving Beyond ‘var_dump’: Techniques and Tools for Improving Debugging

Have you ever experienced a bug or issue with an application where you spent 90% of your time tracking down the source of the problem only to need a few minutes to actually fix it? In this session, we look to improve that ratio and reduce the amount of debugging time altogether by working through techniques, tools, and processes that give us greater insight into our application. We’ll start with improving our ‘var_dumps’ and then move on to the virtues of Xdebug, a PHP profiling and debugging extension and integrating Xdebug with our IDEs.

This session is geared toward beginner and intermediate developers.
