Bill & Ted’s Excellent Kayak Adventure (VII)

Details

“Get Your Mardi Gras On (the River)”
Due to uncontrollable weather conditions, we had to reschedule our Kayak Adventure (something about keeping the 99.996% Survival Rate). Due to availability, the trip is now scheduled for mid week on Wednesday Aug 6th.

Bill & Ted are back once again for another Excellent Kayak Adventure on the Fox River. The Kayak Adventure will run from the Montgomery Dam to the Yorkville Dam. It is a leisurely and scenic paddle down the Fox River. The adventure usually lasts 4-5 hours. Meet in the parking lot at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville, which is the trip’s endpoint. At 10:00 AM (don’t be late), we will shuttle everyone to the start point at South Broadway Park in Montgomery, and put in just below the dam. Our lunch stop will be at Hudson Crossing Park in Oswego. Paddlers must supply their own food, water, and other beverages for the entire journey. We plan on keeping the Marti Gras Theme so feel free to bring along any fun props or kayak decorations. Both porta-potties and potable water are available at the lunch stop. We will take out just above the Yorkville Dam at Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville. After the trip we have the option for dinner and refreshments at one of the local establishments in Yorkville.
The Yak Shack has 17 kayaks reserved for Piccadilly, first come, first served. There are also 20 canoes available for rent if a canoe is desired or if the kayaks are sold out.
You must re-call the Yak Shack at (630) 479-8074 to reserve for Wednesday Aug 6th. Tell them you are with “Piccadilly Ski Club” to get the bargain rate of $35 for single person Kayaks and/or $50 for two-person canoes. You will also have to watch a safety video and pass an online 10 question safety test that is now required by the State of Illinois. Go to https://www.rentalboatsafety.com/canoes-kayaks to watch the video and take the test. A Boater Safety Certificate will be emailed to you when you pass. Please take a screen shot of this certificate and text it to Jeff before the Kayak Trip. You will not be able to enter the water until Jeff confirms this certificate. We will sign waivers and pay for the watercraft at the beginning of the adventure. The rental includes life jackets, paddles, delivery and pickup of the watercraft.
When you have completed your reservation, please re-sign up on Meetup to give others an idea of who is going. If you have your own watercraft, we encourage you to join our trip at no cost. You will be responsible for coordinating your own watercraft drop off and pick up. Indicate in Meetup comments if you plan to bring your own watercraft.
The trip will go rain or shine, in the absence of lightning, assuming river conditions are favorable. Email trourk25@outlook.com or bciciora@yahoo.com for any additional information about this excellent adventure.
