Proud to be an American - "Fourth Of July Pit Bull Walk"

Join us four our annual PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN fourth of July walk -- American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers are America's Dog.
NOTE: This Walk will be CANCELLED if the day's temperature is projected to be over 92 degrees. Check this page and our FACEBOOK the day before to confirm.

Dogs in this walk must be American Pit Bull Terriers or American Staffordshire Terriers. This is the only walk we do with this rule -- it's because we're showcasing America's Dog and we want to represent Pit Bulls and not confuse the public or any media that may show up. (You are also welcome to come without a dog).

Come wearing a red, white, or blue shirt. Dress your dog up patriotically.

Please ONLY bring dogs that are appropriate for this event -- that means dogs that can behave in public, aren't dog aggressive or aggressive toward people, and can easily handle crowds, horses, noise, etc. Please also keep a safe distance between your dog and all other dogs! And make sure your dog is wearing a very secure and well-fitted leash and collar (all prong collars and head halters MUST be backed up if you choose to walk your dog on one).

Bring sunscreen, water for you and your dog, and poop bags. KEEP IN MIND THIS MAY VERY WELL BE A HOT DAY. We are starting early to beat the heat (even though the crowds will be fewer), and we'll be walking in shade as much as possible, but if your dog cannot tolerate walks or heat, leave him or her at home (or feel free to leave the walk early if your dog appears to be getting too tired). Please have one person walk no more than one dog (don't show up alone walking two dogs by yourself, for example).

Or come without a dog! We do need some folks to help hand out educational materials to people who are interested. If you're walking without a dog, note that on your RSVP (comment).

Please arrive on time. This is a fun, laid back, casual stroll around Old Sacramento to remind people that "Pit Bulls" are America's Dog!

Walk time varies depending on participants and weather, but generally lasts about 40 to 60 minutes.
