Details
FRANK (BIG KAHUNA) THE ADMIN: This class from when it has been posted before this has gotten major praise from our members, it's worth doing.
Free Seminar: Compassionate Communication Introduction/Practice Gathering Please join us as we learn about and practice Compassionate Communication (also known as Non-Violent Communication or NVC) skills in a safe, nonjudgmental and open environment. Compassionate Communication is a communication process that allows individuals to connect by understanding feelings and unmet needs that underlie behavior. The emphasis in this approach is on empathy and connection through compassion; the method to learn the skills involves concrete activities and practice.
This coming Saturday, we will cover the topic "Celebrating Moments of Compassion in Difficult Times."
Sometimes it can be hard to celebrate. There can be a sense that we are bragging or boasting, and that may feel uncomfortable. We may also feel reluctant to celebrate when our hearts are grieving the suffering of others. Moments of compassion can be a particular challenge to celebrate because we may be used to associating celebration with achievements and external rewards.
But, if we don't take the time to celebrate we miss out on a powerful source of energy that can sustain us in difficult times. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to reflect on a moment where you either acted with compassion towards someone (either yourself or someone else) or a time when you made a strong empathic connection and really understood someone else (when perhaps you might not have earlier). We will take time to savor this moment individually, share with one or two others, and then debrief together as a group.
We know these are difficult times, and that much of the news out there is painful, but we encourage you to join us this Saturday and for just two hours take time to savor the moments of compassion and connection that are still happening all around us.
