Pittsburgh INTERMEDIATE Japanese/English Language Exchange

This group is for intermediate Japanese speakers/learners and native Japanese speakers who want to practice their English.

We ask that members be able to read the Japanese writing systems: katakana, hiragana and have a basic understanding of kanji before they attend their first meeting. This foundation helps with the facilitation and planning of weekly activities.

We connect Japanese learners and English learners with native speakers of Japanese and English. Practice speaking and reading, find out about cultures, styles, history, current events, and meet new friends!

日本語や英語のネイティブスピーカーと日本語学習者と英語学習者をつなぎます。スピーキングと読むことの練習をしたり、文化やスタイル、歴史、時事問題について学んだり、新しい友達に出会ったりすることができます。

日本語と英語が話せる人なら誰でも参加できます。年齢も、レベルも問いません。基本的にどんな人でも参加できますが、以下の基本的なガイドラインを守ることが期待されています。

• 個人は互いに尊重し合わなければならない。
• 物事を前向きに考えましょう。
• 本当に素晴らしい時間を過ごしましょう

レストランなどのカジュアルな環境で、自然な会話や練習のグループを作ります。そして、もしあなたが交流のパートナーを探しているのなら、ここで見つかる可能性が高いでしょう。しかし、私たちはクラスではありません。具体的な質問がある場合は、ここで答えを得ることができます。

The regular attendees of this group are now at an intermediate Japanese level after meeting for 3+ years so please come prepared to read and speak Japanese.

Generally speaking, Japanese learners and speakers are welcome to join this group, however it is expected that everyone abide by the following basic guidelines:

• Individuals must be respectful to one another.
• Let's keep a positive attitude about things!
• Let's have a really great time!

We meet weekly in a casual environment such as a restaurant to practice speaking, reading and grammar. If you are looking for a conversation partner, you may find one here!

This is NOT a beginner class and we encourage you to self-study outside of this group.

If you have specific Japanese/English language questions, you can get answers here.

Lastly, if you cannot make our Wednesday evening meetings, please do not use our Meetup page to solicit other group members to meet at times outside of our scheduled events. These kind of posts will be removed immediately and you may be removed from the group. This policy is to ensure the safety of all our group members. Reminder that if you choose to meet with someone from this group outside of the scheduled events, you assume all risks associated with such meeting. Thanks for your cooperation!
