Pedaler Social Ride -- October 9, 2025
Details
****FLASH-FLASH--->**MoNature spoiled our Pedaler Social Ride on October 2nd. The rain drops fell thru out the Tri-Valley (about .75"). The sun came out, but left the morning streets too wet/slippery for a safe ride--even if it was going to be on the Iron Horse Tr.
--->MEET---->8:45am
--->ROLL---->9:00 am
Weather looks really good for the Oct 9 ride --->temps in the mid-70s.
**ROUTE---> 'easy-peasy' ride on the Iron Horse Trail to Danville Peets. 30+/- miles. The only(!) climbing will be the bridges linking BART to Don Biddle Park and the Bollinger Blvd crossing.
****October is a great month! Special events are being planned. Please bookmark Oct 23rd and Oct 30.
*1.*** Several Pedalers have birthdays that cross a significant "life" benchmark. These events call for a special moment of celebration. The October 23rd Pedaler ride will conclude with a Fall Luncheon hosted by Steve & Paula McGinnis. Spouses/Best Friends...Pedalers taking a hiatus because "this & that aches-twinges-" should come. Additional details posted next week --October 16. Paula asks that you RSVP her at 925-209-9833.
***The 23rd ride will be an 'easy-peasy' returning to a favorite: ---> SenCen > Laguna Creek > Happy Valley.
2.*****The Pedalers have always recognized the Halloween social ride with a special goblin/ghost/skeletal event at the end of the month. It's not too soon to start planning on what you (and your bike) will wear on the October 30 ride. See pics below!
3.**** It is that time of year when beating hearts and the solitude of Summer is behind us. There are seekers emerging from deep in their domicile desperate for companionship. It is imperative that any Pedaler riding Mines Rd ...Tesla Rd ... Cross Rd ... Collier-Highland-Doolan Cyns be alert and avoid colliding with a male heart-sick tarantula. Male tarantulas are especially active thru all of October and into early November. They were recently spotted on Mines Rd. See (borrowed) pics below.
**Ride "sweep" will facilitate keeping all on course. Ride will re-group as necessary. Cycling etiquette essential. Pleasanton Senior Center open — bathrooms & water available.
***Attendees are limited to 30 who have signed for the ride in advance. Please be sure to bring your helmet, water and a spare tube. No SAG cars provided.
