Two voices will take the stage, bringing one unforgettable evening of brilliance. Cynthia Linville, a poet, professor, and Sacramento literary leader, will share work that reflects her deep connection to music, theater, and poetry. Alongside her, Jason Stephen Shapiro, an eco-poet weaving the natural world into lyric, will offer his unique vision of place and presence. Together, they create a powerful pairing of artistry and insight. Join us for the Mosaic of Voices Poetry Series on October 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Lodi Public Library and experience an afternoon where poetry speaks directly to the heart. Nancy Gonzalez St. Clair, Poet Laureate of Lodi, hosts this event.

Poet Bios:
Cynthia Linville’s two books of collected poems, The Lost Thing and Out of Reach, were published by Cold River Press, and her work has appeared in eight anthologies. Linville’s poems have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and two Best of the Net awards. A music aficionado with a theater background, Cynthia has received three mini-grants from Poets & Writers to perform her work in collaboration with musicians, and she has been a featured artist on Sacramento365. Cynthia has lived in London, New York, San Francisco, and outside of Washington DC, but she is a Sacramento native and has been based in that area for a few decades now. Linville has taught in the English Department at California State University, Sacramento since 2000. She served as Poetry Editor of Poetry Now from 2008 to 2010 and as Managing Editor of Convergence: an online journal of poetry and art from 2008 to 2018. She invented a poetic form dubbed the Linvillanelle. You can view more of her work at CynthiaLinville.com.

Jason Stephen Shapiro fell from a background in theater, photography, radio, and exploring regions less touched by human progress. His core aesthetic is eco-poetics. Jason served on the American River Review as a fiction editor in 2012 at American River College, and reopened the desire as poetry editor for the Calaveras Station Arts & Literary Journal at Sacramento State University, before becoming Executive Editor.
Jason has an M.A. in creative writing, and he’s been published in ARR, The Gapped Tooth Madness, Levee, Calaveras Station Arts & Literary Journal, and Poetry Now.
