About us
We're a group of language learners who get together on weekends to keep each other accountable and actually make progress on our language goals. Whether you're working toward fluency, dusting off a language you learned years ago, or just starting something new, this is a judgment-free space to share what you're working on and report back on how it's going. We're not here to pretend we study 8 hours a day or to be perfect—we're here because it's easy to let language learning slide, and sometimes you just need other people to check in with.
The format is pretty straightforward. We meet weekly, usually on a weekend morning or evening depending on what works for the group, and we go around sharing what we're focusing on that week and what we accomplished the previous week. It might be finishing a textbook chapter, having a conversation with a language exchange partner, watching a movie without subtitles, or just doing 20 minutes of Duolingo—whatever counts as progress for you. Then we set a realistic goal for the coming week. It's casual and conversational, and we're genuinely interested in each other's language journeys.
If you're someone who learns better with community and a little friendly pressure to actually show up and do the work, this might be the group for you. No pressure to be advanced, no pressure to study a "useful" language, and no judgment if you miss a week or need to reset your goals. Just come as you are and let's keep each other moving forward.
