- Once Upon a Speech: The Beginning, Middle, and EndPort Melbourne Community Room, Port Melbourne
Imagine reading Little Red Riding Hood and the first thing that happens is the wolf runs away forever. It wouldn’t make sense, would it? That’s because every good story — and every good speech — needs a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Without this structure, a speech can feel rushed, disorganised, or confusing. The message doesn’t land, and the audience is left feeling like something was missing.
At its heart, speaking is a form of storytelling.
The beginning of a speech sets the tone — like the opening scene of a story. It should also introduce a clear contention, just as a story introduces its characters and context.
The middle, or the body, is where the main content is delivered — ideally in a way that flows naturally and builds on the introduction.
Finally, a strong ending brings the speech home. It should leave your audience with a sense of clarity or inspiration — a new idea, insight or perspective they can take away and apply for themselves.
Join us tonight at Port Melbourne Toastmasters as we explore how you can harness the power of structure — beginning, middle, and end — to create more powerful and memorable speeches.
Get ready for a session that can turn a good speech into a great one.

- Own the Stage: Project Confidence, Command Attention, Stay True to YouPort Melbourne Community Room , Port Melbourne
When you step onto a stage — whether in a meeting room, at a microphone, or delivering a prepared speech — all eyes are on you.
What happens next is determined not just by what you say, but how you say it.
In this dynamic session, we’ll explore what it truly means to own the stage. You’ll learn how to project confidence without arrogance, command attention without force, and captivate an audience while staying grounded in who you really are.
Stage presence is not about performance — it’s about presence. It’s the art of standing tall, speaking with purpose, and connecting with others in a way that feels natural, powerful, and unforgettable. And the best part? It’s a skill you can build.
Whether you're new to public speaking or looking to refine your leadership presence, this session will help you unlock the tools to step up, stand out, and speak with impact.

- 'Sticky' StorytellingPort Melbourne Community Room , Port Melbourne
You already tell stories — to friends, family, co-workers, and peers. You might need to inspire your team, persuade a colleague to support your ideas, or influence a client to say yes. But if your stories aren’t sticky, your message won’t land. It won’t be remembered. And it won’t drive action.
Sticky stories are memorable, meaningful, and magnetic. They make people feel something — and that’s what makes them powerful.
Mastering the art of ‘sticky’ storytelling is one of the most valuable communication skills in today’s world. And the good news? It’s a skill anyone can learn.
Whether you're new to public speaking or looking to elevate your influence and impact…
Join us tonight at Port Melbourne Toastmasters as we dive into the principles of powerful storytelling that make messages truly stick.
