What we’re about
This is a collaborative group of aspiring photographer, models, and stylists who want to practice their skills and build their portfolio in friendly supportive environment.
Photographers: Over time we’ll explore a wide range of themes related to capturing your subjects in a way that makes them look their very best. You’ll learn how to use angles, lenses, and lighting that flatter your model, regardless their shape or size. You’ll learn how to communicate and direct your model, so they feel confident and can give you the best shot possible.
Models: Posing is not easy and we’ll help you develop the confidence and skills you need to do it right in a safe comfortable environment. You’ll learn the nuances of beauty, fashion and business poses and discover tricks and techniques that showcase your unique features in the best way possible.
Stylists (hair and makeup): Come and practice your craft, build your experience and your portfolio.
We’ll spend time at each Meetup to do lots of shooting. The purpose of the group is not just to learn, but to walk away with great photos that you can use to build a stunning portfolio for yourself.
Each Meetup will explore a facet of portrait photography. We’ll begin with a short tutorial around the particular theme or style we’ll be shooting so that everyone has a clear direction in terms of how to approach the shoot, then we’ll get to work practicing those photography and posing skills. Before we leave, we’ll sit down and do a short critique of our work so we can improve even more the next time around. We’ll shoot in a variety of environments, both studio and natural settings.
You’re welcome to join the group regardless your experience level. There are only two requirements: 1) Come with an attitude of openness, collaboration, and respect. 2) Share your photos with the models, so they can use them in their portfolios. We’ll make this easy for you.
We welcome models of all all genders, ages, shapes and sizes. No experience required; we’re here to learn. Photographers, you will get the most out of the Meetup if you have a DSLR or equivalent, but this is not required. If you are highly professional photographer or model, we’d love to have you come, have some fun, and share your knowledge with the group.

See all- Fashion/Beauty Shoot with Matisse3777 Quentin St, Denver, CO$99.00
Join me for a small fashion shoot with a maximum of five photographers. Our model is the beautiful Matisse, a versatile Denver-area model who I've had the opportunity to work with on a number of occasions.
We'll be shooting in the natural light studio and RAW Photographic Studios and then move to the large downstairs studio to do both a hard and soft light setup with studio lighting. You're welcome, regardless of your skill level. It doesn't matter if you have shot fashion or worked with studio lights. It will be a supportive, judgment-free environment. I'll be at your side to provide you with any support or coaching you need. You'll shoot four sets in various outfits. We'll rotate through each photographer for each set, so everyone has a chance to do one-on-one directing and shooting.
Bring your camera and a fully charged battery, and that's pretty much all you need. Before you come, learn how to set your white balance, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO in manual mode for your camera. I'll provide the lights and flash triggers.
This is a small group shoot limited to 5 photographers only. There is a cost of $99 to cover studio rental and model fees.

Join me for our next Meetup at Atelier Alchimia, an inspired, modern studio created by Jonny Edward. It’s happening Sunday, August 24th, from 2 to 5pm. Early bird discount available.
This space is one-of-a-kind, lined with thousands of dollars' worth of hand-painted canvases that make stunning backdrops for artful portraits, fashion, or any genre you love to shoot. There’s a wardrobe full of stylish pieces, loads of props, and a range of shooting setups. We’ll have three or four styled stations with constant lights, and one natural-light setup by a huge window. All you need to bring is a charged battery, lots of space on your memory card, and your creative spirit. (Although feel free to bring your emotional support flash if necessary.)
This is an intimate shoot—only five photographers max—so everyone gets relaxed, unhurried time with a variety of looks. I’ll be bringing three or four of my favorite models to collaborate with us throughout the afternoon.
Jonny just got back from co-teaching with Lindsay Adler in NYC. He’s a gifted stylist, and his studio is full of visual treasures. He and I will both be on hand to help you set up shots if you’d like guidance.
Models: If you’re interested in attending, DM me. I’ve already invited models in my network but may have a couple of spots open.

- Creative Experimental Photography with Jessica3777 Quentin St, Denver, CO$149.00
Join me for some pure creative exploration in the studio! This workshop is all about play, experimentation, exploring creative concepts, and pushing the boundaries of light and form.
There’s no rigid theme for this workshop. It could be a mix of fashion, avant-garde concepts, and unexpected elements like painted plexiglass, dramatic old masters lighting, paper bag couture, and even balloons in ways you’ve never seen before. Who knows?! You'll have to come and find out.
I've done this kind of event once before and it was a blast. Expect to capture moments of beauty and spontaneous chaos. Nudity may be involved, but the focus is on artistry, composition, and creative expression. Come with an open mind, your camera, and a willingness to experiment.
Our model for the evening is Jessica, who is experienced as both a photographic and figurative art model. Being both a photographer and model, she'll bring her unique perspective to the shoot. Give her a follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/queenjess_rising/
