What we’re about
This is a collaborative group of aspiring photographer, models, and stylists who want to practice their skills and build their portfolio in friendly supportive environment.
Photographers: Over time we’ll explore a wide range of themes related to capturing your subjects in a way that makes them look their very best. You’ll learn how to use angles, lenses, and lighting that flatter your model, regardless their shape or size. You’ll learn how to communicate and direct your model, so they feel confident and can give you the best shot possible.
Models: Posing is not easy and we’ll help you develop the confidence and skills you need to do it right in a safe comfortable environment. You’ll learn the nuances of beauty, fashion and business poses and discover tricks and techniques that showcase your unique features in the best way possible.
Stylists (hair and makeup): Come and practice your craft, build your experience and your portfolio.
We’ll spend time at each Meetup to do lots of shooting. The purpose of the group is not just to learn, but to walk away with great photos that you can use to build a stunning portfolio for yourself.
Each Meetup will explore a facet of portrait photography. We’ll begin with a short tutorial around the particular theme or style we’ll be shooting so that everyone has a clear direction in terms of how to approach the shoot, then we’ll get to work practicing those photography and posing skills. Before we leave, we’ll sit down and do a short critique of our work so we can improve even more the next time around. We’ll shoot in a variety of environments, both studio and natural settings.
You’re welcome to join the group regardless your experience level. There are only two requirements: 1) Come with an attitude of openness, collaboration, and respect. 2) Share your photos with the models, so they can use them in their portfolios. We’ll make this easy for you.
We welcome models of all all genders, ages, shapes and sizes. No experience required; we’re here to learn. Photographers, you will get the most out of the Meetup if you have a DSLR or equivalent, but this is not required. If you are highly professional photographer or model, we’d love to have you come, have some fun, and share your knowledge with the group.

The organizer: I'm Eric Brown, a longtime Meetup member. Creative Fun Photo Shoot with Jennie
RAW Photographic Studio, 3777 Quentin Street #105, Denver, CO, USJoin me for some pure creative exploration in the studio. This workshop is all about play, experimentation, exploring creative concepts, and pushing the boundaries of light and form. I've done this kind of Meetup a couple of times and they've honestly been some of my favorite experiences. We got messy, took chances, and made mistakes... and it was a blast!
There’s no rigid theme for this workshop. It could be a mix of fashion, avant-garde concepts, and unexpected elements like painted plexiglass, dramatic old masters lighting, paper bag couture, and even balloons in ways you’ve never seen before. Who knows?! You'll have to come and find out.
Our model for the evening is Jennie. I’ve shot with her a number of times in the past couple of years and have always loved what we create. She’s moving out of state on the 17th, so this will be your only opportunity to shoot with her. Like most Meetups, this is limited to four photographers only so you have lots of shooting time with this talented model. Follow her online: https://www.instagram.com/jennie_parks_official/
This is a small group workshop for those who are looking to explore the more creative side of photography. No previous experience is required. It will be a supportive, judgment-free environment. I'll help you through the process. You'll get some great shots for your portfolios, and you'll get to benefit from watching the other photographers work. But mostly, it will just be fun!
I'll take care of the lighting and provide the gear you need. Bring your camera, memory card, and a fully charged battery, and that's pretty much all you need. Before you come, learn how to set your shutter speed, aperture, and ISO in manual mode for your camera. Know how to disable to simulated live view if you are using a mirrorless camera, so you can shoot with flash.
This is a small group shoot limited to 4 photographers only. There is a cost of $149 to cover studio rental and model fees.5 attendees
