Hosted by Rose City Bird Collective and led by Lauren and Mel. We’ll explore this neighborhood green space together while learning to notice and identify the birds around us.

Orchard Park offers a mix of open grassy areas, scattered trees, and nearby residential habitat that can attract a variety of common songbirds and seasonal visitors. We’ll move at an easy pace, covering a short distance with plenty of time to stop, listen, and observe.

Meet-Up & Logistics
Meet-up location: Orchard Park, Hillsboro (exact meeting spot near restroom.)
Parking: Small lot and Street parking available around the park
Transit: Local bus access within walking distance (check TriMet for routes and timing)

Possible Birds
We typically see 10–20 species on walks like this.
Notable possibilities include:
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-capped Chickadee
Anna’s Hummingbird
Red-tailed Hawk

Accessibility & Trail Conditions
Surface: Paved paths and some compact gravel or grass
Grade: Mostly flat with some short hills/slopes
Expect: Short walking distances 1.5ish miles or less with frequent stops; may encounter damp or muddy grass
Crowds/noise: Moderate neighborhood park activity, shared disc golf park
Shade/sun: Mix of open sun and light shade from trees
Seating: Benches and picnic tables available
Restrooms: Available near parking lot (meeting spot)
Cell service: Generally reliable

Weather + What to Wear
We'll bird in drizzle but cancel for deluge. Wear comfortable layers and closed-toe shoes suitable for grass or slightly muddy areas. A light rain jacket and layers are recommended just in case.

This is an outdoor community walk on public trails. Conditions may be muddy, uneven, or slippery depending on weather. Please use your best judgment, stay within your comfort level, and help us keep the group together. By attending, you agree to take responsibility for your own safety and personal belongings.
All ages are welcome—minors must stay with a parent/guardian at all times.
