Chan Si Gong (Silk Reeling Exercises) are spiral movement exercises with emphasis on the ground connection, waist connection, knee alignment, sinking, opening and closing of joints, and dantian rotation. This series of spiral movement exercises are for the development of the basic strengths and coordination of Chen Style Tai Chi. These exercises will increase the mobility of body joints and relax the muscles and tendons of the practitioner, opening up and exercising the 18 major joints (in sequence from the head to the ankles) of the body, promoting flexibility, and reducing physical tension and strain.
This weekly class is a free offering through Portland Parks & Recreation's Fitness in the Park through the end of August 2024.
