About us
Yes, there is D&D that is not "5E". OSR is do-it-yourself D&D that is played fast and loose, less superheroic and more dangerous. The rules are simple and easy. The settings range from classic megadungeons to fairy tale horror, hex crawls, and the just plain bizarre. This is D&D with the safety off, where there are no stories and no destiny, only you and your sword against the terrors of the eldritch dark.
OSR originally meant Old School Renaissance, and generally encompassed Classic D&D from 1974 up through the latest retro-clones, as well as games like Dungeon Crawl Classics. Some even play 5E is an OSR style, using options and house rules to make it grittier and pulpier.
This meetup is intended to provide an alternative to all the 5E meetups, and to provide a forum for local OSR fans to find each other. Whether you are a old time D&D player, a new player interested in D&D's roots, or just interested in hacking 5E to make it more OSR, this group is for you. Say hi in the discussion and we'll schedule some meetups. If you run an old school campaign and would like to list it here, I can add you as an event organizer.
