This is a wonderful route for anyone looking for a moderate challenge without leaving the Portland city limits. There are a few parking spots along Terwilliger Boulevard adjacent to this trailhead, but be sure to watch for traffic when crossing this and other roads along this route. It is definitely helpful to have the off-route notifications on along this route, but there are fewer changes to the trail than other hikes in the area. Most of this adventure follows well travelled forest trails, which offer a perfect escape into some of Portland's best mountain hiking. There are a few steep inclines and descents, with most of the route following an even incline to the summit of Council Crest, and a nice descent most of the way back. You will cross some pretty bridges throughout this trail, and you will have plenty of opportunities to be at peace in some very thick pacific northwest green forest.
