Ross Island Sunset Paddle

Details
This is a beautiful time of day to be out on the water, and Ross Island is a great place to explore, with beautiful views of the city and opportunities to see some wildlife without having to travel far from Portland.
This is a later option for people who need to work or have other obligations during the day. If you want to attend but can't quite get there on time, just let me know when you can be there. The end time is just an estimation. Please bring a headlamp or other lights, in case we end up paddling after dark.
All events are beginner friendly unless otherwise specified. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about anything kayak related, as well.
Usually I have extra kayaks (with paddles & life jackets) that I can bring, or you can bring your own & join us. I'm not yet sure whether I can bring a trailer of kayaks, or whether I will only have an inflatable paddle board and an inflatable tandem kayak. If I bring a kayak for you, a $25-$40 donation is requested, but if you are facing financial hardship please let me know. You must remain in good communication with me prior to the event in order for me to trust that you will show up, and bring a kayak for you.
We will meet at Sellwood Riverfront (dog) Park. If the parking lot is crowded, feel free to drop off your kayak up front by the restroom first, and then go look for a place to park. After launching off of the dock, beach or sometimes steps, we will paddle by Oaks Park, along a row of houseboats, and into a protected channel next to Ross Island.
Please dress for the weather and avoid wearing cotton if possible. Also, bringing a change of shoes & pants/shorts is always a good idea, as well as a jacket & extra socks. Sometimes we go to the muddy rudder afterward for food and drinks.
