It's been way too long since I've done a full moon event. I may or may not be working at OMSI that evening until 9pm. Please note that if I do not end up working that evening, I will probably change the official start time to 8:30pm.

We will meet at the end of SW Hall St. by the Strand Condominiums. Hall Street is a cul-de-sac on a privately owned street where we can unload, and then park wherever we can find a spot.

I have kayaks, life jackets & paddles available for people who don't have their own, with a requested donation of 30-45 per kayak. I do not want the requested donation to prevent anyone from joining us out on the water though, so feel free to contact me directly if that is an issue for you at all.

Please be sure to bring a headlamp or hands free flashlight, etc. so that we can be seen in open water in the dark. When gazing at the moon, however, it's nice to be able to turn lights off & enjoy the darkness.

The nearest public restroom is next to Our Spot Coffee House, a few blocks away along the bike path.

Poet's Beach has 2 long concrete paths that lead directly down into the water. City lights provide good visibility in the downtown area to start the journey upstream, out to Ross Island and along the island's east side. We often settle in the lagoon to look at the moon for a while before heading back downtown.

Please support our group and consider making a small $10 donation once per season to support the annual meetup expenses and other costs. Cash or venmo donation @Portland-Kayaking to pay for gas, equipment, organizing, safety, instruction, etc.
