Urban Food Forestry Workshop

Join us for a 2-hour workshop led by Dan Sloan of Portland Food Forest Initiative, designed for anyone interested in transforming lawns and conventional gardens into resilient, productive ecosystems.
This classroom-based session will introduce participants to the principles and practices of urban food forestry, regenerative agriculture, and agroforestry with practical strategies for both beginners and experienced growers.
Topics include:
- Converting a lawn into a thriving, productive ecosystem
- Exploring different design approaches in food forestry
- Fertility management strategies
- Recommended plant choices for the Portland area
- Integrated pest management techniques
- Core principles of permaculture design
Dan is a permaculture designer and educator, plant propagator, urban agroforestry advocate, fruit tree pruner, and has experience planting many and stewarding several food forests in Portland. This class is an abbreviated version of a class he teaches at PCC.
