Monitoring PostgreSQL with Graphite and Grafana

Details

Doors will open at 5:30 with pizza and networking at 6:00. The talk will start about 6:15.

Graphite and Grafana are two popular open source frameworks for monitoring servers in your data center/cloud environment. In many ways they are competing projects, but using them together provides a ton of value especially when you are monitoring PostgreSQL. With a moderately sized database schema, you are collecting hundreds or thousands of metrics per minute so handling that amount of data becomes a challenge in itself. Join us as Jan Wieck discusses the challenges of monitoring a PostgreSQL server that can be directly applied to many monitoring solutions.

Jan Wieck is a former PostgreSQL Core member and long standing key developer of the PostgreSQL database project. He is the author of several features including PL/pgSQL, NUMERIC, TOAST and the background writer. Jan is a Senior Architect at OpenSCG.
