SFPUG Dec: Checksums!

Details

In version 9.3, our own Jeff Davis (of Aster Data) added data page checksums to PostgreSQL. This new feature allows for early detection of disk and memory issues which might cause your database to be corrupted, but using the feature comes with a cost and some complications. So the feature author himself is going to explain:

• what the new checksums are

• how they are implemented

• what they detect, and what they don't

• how to use them

• when not to use them

As a first, we are going to try out having one or two Lightning Talks at the beginning of the SFPUG meeting. If you want to give a Lightning Talk on something you are working on or your company's products, please contact me at josh@postgresql.org.

Venue host and food sponsor for this event is Disqus (http://www.disqus.com), the comment service you use even if you didn't know it.
