What we’re about
Hi, I am Clare, I am a certified Anjali Flow Yoga teacher and I am going to be holding a trial free class going on as many weeks as people have interest and attend,
With an intent to open the mind to the relaxing centeringness of the body’s inner heat through challenges in the form of stretches - The ultimate goal of which is to prepare the mind for meditation (in a seat) that is deep and with ease-
it is Power Yoga we will do so an Advanced Flow with featured hanuman (split) stretch coming from down dog (called mountain here),
And planks that flow to extensions of hip in the downward facing dog which serve to warm body up and mind up for backbends of which we will feature a different focus each week on •backbend of camel flow pose, •reverse plank backboard flow pose, •wheel (traditional hands and feet supporting backbend), also
•gentle waving form of:
• cobras+down dogs and
•locusts also •supported bridge stands using blocks from wheel pose and
•backbend using a wall
Thigh stretch form of swan pose (called pigeon in other yoga)
This can progress to and we will at times hopefully include,
•forearm stand “head stand” though this is ok the forearms& wall supported
•handstands
And plow (on the back supine various flow) into shoulderstand
And meditation
-that’s if the group wishes, hopefully being game for at least a few times trial of that and if not (if it’s more athletic types and not geared toward this it is ok because I live both ways of being in life -athletic and jumping around and being mind-opening as a result of this total athleticism without sometimes getting to my meditation even- I find that’s ok, oftentimes if a balance with days I do get to meditate- and this is echoed in some schools of thought by Buddhist and yoga, some of which I can bring readings on…
It will be held in the backward at a house my parents house, in Circle C
It is free to attend. I just want to trial this ! This is my own yoga &while it is based on a couple of yoga forms and the actual two forms I trained in and certified in are in it, definitely, I have been doing my yoga for ten years daily without teaching again since before then or attending class and I simply feel I would like to share the form that has been now uniquely generated by my organically letting the experience carry me and show what is strong and natural to do every day and with variances..
In other words, in comparison reaching back through time I realize:
It feels like it’s one unique yoga form or unique compilation. I love it, it sustains and energizes me more than does eating breakfast even. It generates the space to do mantras of peace and oneness with the good intentions and those mantras which come -for me, in my case, come from Christianity and Buddhism religions both, and also just spiritual self-help. Mantras can be anything that supports and sustains goodness. They can be “I am making the breath be connecting, so I will do good today with you who I’ll see.” “I am making the break. The creative breath. Hail the Creative.” “Calm and quiet down, mind.” Or just, “quiet, so quiet.” Or just, “ahhhh. Count. Love to count reps of what feels good. 1, 2.. 9.l,10..19..20. It is Ok, simply to count. ..(and think, sometimes in this too, counting her simplifies, rest of day later on simplified).”
Totally without the need for religion or spirituality.
And like this being-without-need for religion or spirituality, per se, meditation can happen just for breath just for the health. The mantra can even be that if one is using a mantra during one meditation which is completely at the individual’s discretion. I think that I will probably try reading a small phrase or two first and then letting our meditation at end of session proceed in quietude. I will take feedback and work upon it. This is an experiment for I want to see what I want to personally seek out in further yoga professional developments what kind, and so on. So I am holding a class.
Just about me: I am a former figure skater who developed bodywork that was natural to yoga. I have a B.A. in Human Ecology and I studied modern dance. In the course of being skating and being training for that I did yoga and then throughout my twenties I got more into yoga and training in it and finally teaching it, and it in particular brought the flows into my practice but I wanted able to be disciplined into that particular form which I went to class's in- yet I felt it was too regimented for me as far as choreographed flows go. I still do many of these flows though.
When I am not doing the yoga I am doing my little jobs and side jobs, and making a graphic novel of nature art.
Holding a trial yoga class comes from desire to learn about what I want to do with this yoga that has, as far as teaching, been shelved for many years. Plus which it is way to finally DO it- I haven’t figured out with my love of just doing my own particular routine of yoga and averse to diversion from that into what might be needed to teach a beginner class etc., I feel since ten years has gone by since I taught it just for six months before - it is time not to let time slip by more but just try something- this meetup.
One thing you may wonder is why an advanced class before again holding a beginner class or why have I dropped begginner- while I have done my yoga and procrastinated holding a class for teaching for so many years I realized that maybe the way to do it is laid-back on meetup just offer this of the advanced yoga poses, and people who would like to come will come, who have some some of these or have been body work minded and done some of these enough, to indeed already feel ready to do a level such as backends have and are. And as such a brand it as such or term it as such: “advanced,” and I don’t think it’s really that advanced or too advanced for too many, but, realizing this is what I can offer and this is what I can get to and do and comes most naturally because I’m basically just sharing my practice, my own, with others- I think it will work out to try and do, just knowing when you read the blurb to try to decide to come the need is for you to have some experience doing backbends and be ready to try that.
It’s like holding a running group or a mountain bike group. Those groups are athletic: and will get the blood pumping, heart going, and muscles burning. This too. So this is the taco I am taking- It is not usual or keeping not right with, the school of thought that has been with yoga for so long as you have to start at basics and beginner and teachers have to teach only the beginner and basic first before justifiable to teach harder bendier things. I believe we can depart from that as there is so much yoga in this city. If you need basics and a foundation to be able to backbend from, so sooo so many basic /beginner out there in our city. So I don’t feel wrong at all in honestly doing /offering this .
Music suggestions gladly taken -
although since my mom is a harpist and a large selection of that I find it a what will most put me in the mindset of ease, of this just sharing my own practice, as I do, my own practice to what I am often hearing, that is what it will start out with.
Now you have thoroughly a description of what’s going to be up with this yoga uplift. I hope so much to see some of you there !:)) and Happy New Year.
