Then the Palmetto Photography Group is the right place for you!

All photography skill levels are welcome!!! We hope you will join us at an upcoming event . We are always looking forward to meeting new members.

The goal of our group is simple: to work together, creating, collaborating, and improving our photographic skills.

Our group originated by focusing on the art of photographing people (previously named Portrait Photography Group), but we have expanded through the years to incorporate other forms of photography as well, including food photography, still life, landscapes, wildlife, post production events, etc. 

This Meetup group was founded in 2010, and is currently in 6 different cities, with more than 500 events behind us and over 5000 members. The membership base has always been a strong and a connected one, where many long term friendships have developed.

Our group activities include:
1. Meet & Greets - for networking and idea sharing
2. Inspirational and Creative get-together's for collaborating and creating together, and improving our skills
3. Classes & Workshops - to learn more about posing, lighting, equipment, post processing software, and even marketing & sales (If you wish to make a little money with your photography)
4. Charity Events - for networking and supporting our local community

Many of our events DO involve "MODELS", however, the word "MODEL" for us does NOT usually mean a professional model but rather a subject willing to allow us to practice and learn with. Our goal when photographing portrait subjects is to provide our members with the opportunity to practice with "real" people to improve on our posing skills, client interaction, and of course lighting and camera settings.

We are always looking for "models" if you know someone willing to be our subject please direct them to the group. Portrait subjects of all ages, nationalities, male or female are needed. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to have fun on the other side of the camera.

Some events are free but most carry a small fee. The prices of our meetup events are directly related to the the amount of work the organizers must put in to creating them:
- lining up models, make-up artists, costumes, and props
- any location arranging and/or costs
- time spent writing up and planning these events
- taxes, and other fees associated with organizing the groups
Generally the fees for our meetups cost between $40 and $150.

Not all of our meetups are structured as classes or workshops. We have many members who just want to get together with a model and practice or "mastermind" with other photographers.

This is why we say all levels are welcome... everyone shares and helps each other along this path. We encourage supporting one another and being open with your knowledge and photography skills when attending our events. There is no competition within our group so... please leave your egos behind!
