"You need experience to get a job, but you need a job to get experience."

Even if you haven't read Catch-22, you have likely found yourself trapped in this kind of no-win situation. Joseph Heller's famous title has transcended its original fictional setting to become our universal term for contradictory rules, endless loops, and impossible dilemmas.

The novel itself follows Yossarian, a WWII US Air Force bombardier stationed on a small Mediterranean island. His only goal is to survive and go home. Yet, to escape the deadly missions, he must prove he is insane—but recognizing the danger and wanting to avoid it is proof of a rational mind, meaning he must keep flying. Everyone in the book is caught in their own ridiculous loops, reminding us that reality is often far more absurd than fiction.

Whether you couldn't put the book down and want to recommend it to everyone, or a friend pushed you to read it but it just didn't click for you, you are not alone.
