Communication: In Words & Beyond
Details
Dear all,
This time we will talk and discuss about communication in relationships
-
How do you show romantic interest?
-
How do you approch a person you want to start a conversation with, having a romantic interest? With what words do you initiate a conversation?
-
And how good are you at recognizing when someone else is interested in you?
-
What words would you like to hear from someone who communicates romantic interest?
-
How would you describe your gut feeling when you approach and are being approached?
-
When you have established relationship:
-
What is truely good communication then? Is it words, attention, questions, eye contact, something else or all together?
-
How well do your words typically match your actions? Have you observed your partner saying certain things and doing other? How to approach that in a correct way?
-
Which one should we trust when they contradict each other?
-
What do you communicate without saying anything?
Think about eye contact, facial expressions, touch, distance, silence, and body language. -
Do you communicate directly what you want and need, or do you expect the other person to understand without being told?
-
What happens to your communication when you feel vulnerable? Do you become more open, quiet, defensive, humorous, distant, or demanding?
-
Is silence also communication? What can silence mean in dating: comfort, insecurity, punishment, disinterest, attraction, or simply needing space?
-
How do you communicate disagreement? Can you say “I don't agree with you” while maintaining warmth, curiosity, and respect?
-
How should we interpret mixed signals? If someone's words say “I like you” but their behaviour says “I'm unavailable,” which message matters more?
We will talk-work in mixed gender groups of 6-10 people at several tables and see where this will take you!
A warm welcome!

A Different Date is an educational discussion event developed from the Practical Psychology Club. It offers you a chance to understand yourself better while meeting other singles who are also looking for a meaningful relationship.
Important criteria
- Openness, curiosity, and a willingness to know yourself better while connecting with others through meaningful conversations.
- A moderated discussion based on open-ended questions and reflective insights.
This is an educational activity, not a speed-dating event or matchmaking service. The aim is to promote self-awareness and authentic connections with other singles.
I look forward to meeting you!
