Practise Speaking English - COVID19 discussion

NOTE: This is a physical, face-to-face meeting, not an online meeting. Due to COVID social distancing restrictions, only a maximum of 4 people can join this meetup.

Participants must be either vaccinated or show a valid PET test negative result within 24 hours or show a valid proof of exemption from PET testing.

REGISTRATION:

Due to very limited slots (4 only), all registrants must provide mobile no. upon registration, and a whatsapp message will be sent to all registrants. Registration is only confirmed when the registrant replies in confirmation.

The purpose of this event is purely to spark lively and engaging conversations in English. Participants can be either English learners or people who are just interested in the topic.

The chosen topic for discussion in this meetup is COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has without a doubt changed the world.

Participants are free to discuss any dimension of this vast and complex topic. Here are some examples of questions to think about:

-What do you think of the origins of the pandemic?
-How has your personal life been affected by the pandemic?
-How have different businesses been affected by the pandemic?
-What do you think of the way different countries have handled the outbreak? e.g. China, India, Singapore, USA, Europe
-What do you think about the various COVID treatments/vaccines?
-What do you think of the key world figures in the pandemic e.g. Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, and Dr Tedros (WHO)
-How do you think the pandemic will affect life in 2022 and the next few years?
-How has the pandemic changed humanity?
-How does the COVID-19 pandemic compare with other outbreaks in history?

The venue for the event will be near City Hall MRT, at WeWork Beach Centre, Room 2A, level 2.

Landmark - Raffles Hotel. If you can't find the venue, look for Raffles Hotel. WeWork is a separate building beside Raffles Hotel.

The facilitator of the discussion is Mr Boon, a former English Language Lecturer at NUS CELC (Centre for English Language Communication). Boon is currently working as the managing editor of Boon Editing (see www.boonedit.com)
