In this Pragmatic Dharma Meetup, hosted by Vince Fakhoury Horn and other guest teachers, we will be exploring what works in our Dharma practice. Together, we'll engage in the three trainings of Buddhism, including training in:

  1. Morality or Ethics (Sila)
  2. Concentration or Meditation (Samadhi)
  3. Insight or Wisdom (Panna)

As one of my pragmatic dharma teachers, Kenneth Folk, often quipped: "Enlightenment is a team sport." So, we come together in each meetup to practice together. The form of our practice could look like any of the following:

(a) Sitting in silence as a group
(b) Receiving guided instruction from a qualified teacher
(c) Engaging in out-loud, peer-to-peer social meditation practices
(d) None of the above

Each 75 minute meet-up will include periods of dharma teaching and discussion, so that we can contextualize the practice as we reach toward mutual understanding.

You're invited, during each session, to exercise complete autonomy in terms of how you steer your own practice. While many things will be offered in these groups, by people who sound extremely confident in what they're sharing, you will never be asked to do anything other than what you choose to, including following instructions, engaging in social practices,

"A bodhisattva is an ordinary person who acts like a true adult." – Kosho Uchiyama Roshi

In the Pragmatic Dharma Sangha, we strive to be true adults.

SUGGESTED DONATION: $20

This event is offered freely, to anyone willing to expend the energy to attend. That said, you're invited to donate at the event to support the teacher's livelihood.
