THE STORY
From 1968 to 1991, Milovice was the headquarters of the Central Group of Soviet Forces—a sealed, invisible city of tens of thousands with its own schools, hospital, and direct flights to Moscow. Today, most of it has been demolished, leaving behind a half-erased landscape where a nature reserve is quietly taking over.
WHAT WE'LL SEE
🏚️ Boží Dar Remnants: Traces, foundations, and final remnants of the demolished Soviet officers' estate and ghost town.
💣 Aviation Ammo Depot: Disused Soviet military structures hidden in the trees.
✈️ Concrete Aircraft Shelters: Cold War-era hangars along the old airfield (we will strictly stay off the active runway).
🐎 Wild Nature Reserve: Viewpoints to spot wild horses and aurochs grazing the former military training ground. European bison live in the far section, so we may spot them too! (Binoculars recommended).
THE PRACTICALS
📍 Meeting Point: 10:30 AM @ Praha Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží) - in front of Burger King.
🚆 Train Info: Train S22 departing at 11:16 AM → arriving in Milovice ~12:03 PM. (PID Zone 4 — buy your ticket before boarding!)
🚶 The Hike: ~10 km, flat terrain, roughly 4–5 hours including stops.
🎟️ Cost: FREE entry! (You only pay for your own train fare).
WHAT TO BRING
🥪 Food & Drink: Packed lunch + at least 1.5L of water (there are no shops, cafés, or water taps along the route!).
👟 Gear: Sturdy closed shoes, long trousers (essential for brush and ticks), sun protection, a torch/headlamp, and tick repellent.

Urbex is short for "urban exploration"—and Milovice is one of the rare places where the urban part has almost entirely dissolved back into nature. Ruins and ex-military grounds carry real hazards. We practice safe exploration: no forced entry, nothing unsafe, photos only. You join entirely at your own risk.
