Join Riley County Historical Society & Museum staff and volunteers for a comprehensive walking tour of City Park in historic, downtown Manhattan on the afternoon of November 8.
The park has roots almost as old as the founding of the city. From its conception in 1857 to the many changes and growth it has sustained in its almost 170-year history, City Park has been a centerpiece of community heritage.
From the Pioneer Log Cabin (Riley County’s first museum) to the old brick works, the goldfish pond, the historic monuments, the rose garden, and Johnny Kaw himself, participants will learn much of the community’s history that has centered around this 45-acre park.

Please note that this is a walking tour and will last approximately 1.5 hours. Because the tour will be held outdoors, the program will be weather dependent. Please dress accordingly, wear comfortable shoes, and if you bring a dog, please make sure it is on a leash at all times and be prepared to clean up after it. Should inclement weather arise, organizers will set a rain date.
Reservations are not required and the tour is open to all. Free will donations are welcome and will go to the Riley County Historical Society.
*** Starting location will be the Pioneer Log Cabin (behind the pool). ***
