Let's try this one again - without the conflicting mountain bike races this time...
For those of you who enjoy long hikes, you will love this one. It’s 10 miles with 1,400 feet of elevation gain through the mountains west of Thumb Butte, hiking on parts of several different trails in the area. The hike is moderate, but there are some areas that will get your lungs working out a bit.
Some of the trails we will hike, include:
316 Pine Lakes Trail
318 West Trail
392 Garden Grove Trail
Road 373
333 Honeybucket Trail
322 Circle Connection Trail
327 Potts Creek Trail
321 Butte Creek Trail
323 Butte Connection Trail
326 Thumb Butte Bypass Trail and
367 Miller Creek Trail
Compared to the original description, the wildflowers are starting to bloom but the creeks are starting to dry up. This area is still beautiful this time of year.
Since this is a long hike, remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, bring lots of water and electrolytes and snacks, both salty and sweet.
We will meet at the Thumb Butte Picnic Area. Directions:
From downtown Prescott, travel West on Gurley Street, which becomes Thumb Butte Road, for 3.4 miles to the Thumb Butte Road Picnic Area, on the right.
Attached are photos and a map of the hike.
