Almosta Trail 622

Details

We willl be hiking an out and back, 4.5 miles, on the Almosta Trail 622. This trail has some ups and downs, but they’re not too bad. The trail is a single track trail and is rocky in some places, so hiking poles are recommended. We will start hiking in a residential area and eventually wind down through Whispering Canyon amongst the juniper, cottonwood, pinon, scrub oak, and willow trees toward mint wash. The trail has 9 crossings along mint wash, but there is no water now so we will not get wet. We saw a lot of deer on the road and on the trail so use caution when driving to the trailhead.
There is little shade along the trail so bring your hats, sunscreen, cooling towels, water, electrolytes, and snacks.
Attached are some photos of the hike (courtesy of me, Renee, and Robert, who helped me scout the hike 😄)
We will meet at the Almosta Trailhead. Here are the directions:
Drive NW out of Prescott on Williamson Valley Road. Turn left onto Almosta Ranch Road. Follow the road approximately 0.8 miles and you will see the trailhead on your left.
