Feb 15 - Presto Tech Talk: Using Presto for ML | New SQL Client on Presto UI

Details
Join us for our Feb virtual meetup where we’ll have 2 awesome sessions!
Using Presto on Unstructured Data with ML applications
Speaker: Bhavini Rathod, ML Developer and Presto community member
This session explores how Presto can be used for querying unstructured data in Elasticsearch. We will begin by looking at Time-Series data. The Elasticsearch platform was chosen arbitrarily because of its ability to handle real-time data indexing. Eventually, we want to leverage Presto’s ability to connect with non-traditional databases to be able to query other types of unstructured data including machine generated data and text.
The project setup uses Presto as a part of the feature extraction stage in an ML workflow. Using the Elasticsearch connector in Presto, we will run SQL queries against unstructured data for exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature extraction, real-time data insights, and advanced analytics. Overall, this session provides a jumping off point for discussing Presto’s efficacy and limitations when querying unstructured data on non-traditional database systems.
New SQL Client on the Presto UI
Speaker: Yi-hong Wang, Open-Source Developer at IBM
Do you want to view your data quickly but have no time to set up the Presto CLI? Thanks to the Presto JS client, you can now run SQL queries using the new SQL Client available on the Presto UI. In this session, we will explore the new UI and its features, and learn how to run queries effectively.
The Zoom link will be visible once you RSVP.
