About us

Welcome to Pride Adventures (Victoria)!

We organise a variety of LGBTQ+ friendly activities and trips for members to connect, have fun, and make new friends.
The idea is simply to provide our community (and friends) a welcoming platform to meet like minded people in a relaxed environment whilst having the opportunity to enjoy the best of what Victoria offers.
Most activities are centred around my love of bushwalking and just getting out into the wonderful outdoors, but we will be hosting general social events and are always open to suggestions.

Events will cater for people of varying fitness levels from those that just want to enjoy a gentle social walk to those that want to combine the social aspect with building their fitness levels and taking on a challenge!
Carefully read the event description to understand if the posted event is right for you or simply ask the organiser of the event.

What's the cost ?
Events are free unless there are entry fees or other expenses that require payment.

Is transport provided ?
Those attending events will be required to arrange their own transport to the meeting point.
We are always keen where possible for those with transport to offer a ride to others in order to do our bit for the environment but also give those without transport the opportunity to attend events. (to allow for this we use a simple carpooling website - just follow the link on the event description)

Why am I on the waitlist for an event?
In the interest of safety and in some cases to minimise the impact on the environment, hike leaders will often nominate an attendee limit for the event. If the limit has been reached, you're still welcome to join the waitlist and simply keep checking to see if a space has become free.

What if I can’t come to an event anymore?
Please change your RSVP to ‘Not going’ even if you’re currently on the waitlist.
A no-show policy applies to all events, so if you’re a confirmed attendee but can no longer come, please contact the hike leader as early as possible to avoid being marked as a no-show. (3 no shows and you will not be able to attend future event in fairness to all those in the group)

Westerfolds Park and brunch 🐕🐩

You and doggies are welcome today for an easy 10km stroll, followed by brunch when we’re finished at a nearby cafe.

We’ll meet in the Swamp Gum carpark and start off along the Westerfolds Park circuit track, before we veer slightly off track at the rapids lookout point. Here we leave the circuit path and make our way around to the stunning suspension bridge. We’ll stop for photos and a bit of ‘off lead’ time for the doggies once we’re over the bridge.

Then we’ll head back crossing the suspension bridge and re-joining the latter half of the circuit path for the return to the carpark before a short drive to Down The Rabbit Hole cafe for a good brunch.
An easy day’s stroll with a good brunch at the end, not too taxing even for the little doggies. You won’t need any backpacks today; Maximum elevation of 80m. Just a water bottle will do.

There are toilets and water stops throughout so you won’t need to bring extra for the dogs.

The park is accessible by public bus 293 from Box Hill station.

Castlemaine to Maldon Rail Trail (Return via the Victorian Goldfields Railway)

HIKE OVERVIEW:
The Castlemaine to Maldon Rail Trail is a 16.7km, moderate hike which runs parallel to the Victorian Goldfields Railway. It passes through bushland, farmland and some gold-era historical sites.

We will start and meet at Castlemaine Train Station and walk towards Maldon. Our route will take us via Muckleford Train Station.

We will return back to Castlemaine aboard the steam train operated by the Victorian Goldfields Railway. This historic railway served rural Victoria from 1880 through to the 1970’s and has been restored to its former glory.

Excursion class one way tickets are $37 ($32 concession) and once you have confirmed your attendance, I will advise here in comments when to book your one-way ticket from Maldon. Please wait for the go-ahead to book your tickets as the event may be suspended if we don’t attract enough interest. when advised you can book your tickets at the following link:

CAR POOLING:
Car pooling is a great way to make friends, save money & to give those without transport the opportunity to join us. Any fuel-cost-sharing arrangement is between the individual car owner and any passengers joining that car pool and does not constitute a fee to attend this event.

Lunch: In Maldon we will stop for lunch at the Maldon Hotel, 58 Main St.

French Island - Koala Spotting Hike (19km) - Early Start Required

Join us for a unique hike on French Island, the only hike in Victoria where you are guaranteed to see Koalas in the wild.
This is an ideal cooler season walk as there is little shade along parts of the track and there is more wildlife to be seen on the island.

We will need to set off early to meet at 8:00am (at the latest) at the Stony Point Ferry Terminal to catch the 8:15am ferry across to the island (15mins).
So please use the following link to book your tickets ($33.00 Return) before you RSVP.
You can buy your tickets on the boat but sometimes if boat is full you will not be able to get a seat.
Book 8:15am Ferry from Stony Point to French Island and the 1:05pm Return ticket (see attached photo).

The walk is around 19 km done at a moderate pace on flat ground so an easy walk but we need to make sure we get back to the ferry terminal in time for the 1:05pm return trip.
French Island is an interesting and unique place to visit.
Hiking around the island is easy and relatively flat.
The area features spectacular coastal wetlands, mangroves, and salt marshes, that provide habitats for rich and biodiverse fauna, with over 230 bird species recorded in the area and of course Koalas!
