We can't visit Hobart without conquering Mount Wellington!
No matter where you are in the city, the mountain is always watching over you. Its lower slopes are cloaked in stunning, towering woodlands, but as you climb higher, the landscape dramatically transforms into an alpine wonderland of wind-sculpted rocks and panoramic skies.
Our adventure starts – and finishes – right next to Hobart's historic Cascade Brewery.
From there, we ascend the Myrtle Gully Track, winding through ferny gullies until we join the Panorama Track and emerge onto Pinnacle Road. Here we take in sweeping views of Hobart, the Derwent River, and the fascinating sculpture-like rock formations that cling to the ridge.
Weather permitting, we'll make our way back via the breathtaking Organ Pipes Track before descending once more to the brewery.
Meeting and Transport:
We will meet at the main carpark at Salamanca Place at 8:00am for a 8:15 departure via mini van (unless you have your own transport) to the starting point of the hike : Cascade Track Start
The drive will only take 15 minutes so we will be on the track by 8:30am.
Note: Again the weather on the mountain is VERY changeable and its not unusual for the temperature to drop in double digits with little warning.
