For the April 10th book club, we have chosen Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H:

This month, our book club is reading something a little different and deeply special. We’re diving into Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H, a powerful, lyrical memoir about faith, identity, migration, and finding your place in the world as a queer Muslim.

Through a series of intimate essays, Lamya H reflects on growing up between cultures, questioning expectations, and discovering the courage to live truthfully. Drawing inspiration from stories in the Qur’an alongside moments from their own life, the book explores what it means to reconcile spirituality and queerness while building a life that feels authentic and whole.

While this pick isn’t a classic sapphic romance, it is a beautiful and important story about finding your queer path, claiming your identity, and discovering community along the way. It’s the kind of book that opens up thoughtful conversations and reminds us how many different journeys there are to becoming ourselves.

Join us for an evening of meaningful discussion, reflection, and connection with fellow queer readers. As always, our book club is a warm and welcoming space — whether you’ve finished the book or simply want to listen and be part of the conversation.
