An idea that was born over a beer is now being brought to life... introducing the 'Product Peak' community! With great pleasure, we would like to invite you to the #1 meet’up - The One Where It All Began.

We will run a series of four 20-minute presentations. Starting at 18:00 at our Ocado Technology office, located in the Wrocław Old Town (Szewska 8 St.). We have a great event space with a stage on our 4th floor!

***Agenda***
18:00 grab a drink and take a seat

18:10 - 18:30 Paweł Feliński, Product & Agile Consultant
Topic: MVP Rediscovered

  • About: Minimum viable product, MVP, is one of the most commonly confused concepts in product development. In theory, it’s a part of the Lean Startup framework. In practice, it’s whatever your company managed to release when it became obvious that the original scope wouldn't meet the deadline. Is the minimum viable product a product at all? What's the difference between an MVP and a prototype? What is necessary to create an MVP? During the presentation, we will seek answers to these and other questions. We will discuss differences between an MVP, an increment, a proof of concept, and a prototype. We will go through a few examples of MVPs and conclude with a checklist for MVPs.

18:30 - 18:50 Mariusz Jeleń, Product Manager at Ocado Technology
Topic: Product Manager vs Product Owner vs Project Manager”.

  • About: Do you know the difference between a Project Manager, a Product Owner and a Product Manager? Are you new to the job market or considering starting a new career challenge as a Product Manager? Would you prefer to be in charge of delivering business outcomes or project outputs? If the answer is yes to any of these questions - join this Ocado Technology hosted meet-up. Product management is a recognized and well-established craft at Ocado, that, in partnership with engineering, plays an important role in the evolution of our products. I will demonstrate this using the Machine Learning Services Product Manager Job (my role). You will experience an example of my day of life at work. I hope you enjoy it, just like I enjoy my work here @ Ocado all day long.

18:50 - 19:10 Radosław Orszewski, Lean Agile Coach & Kanban Trainer
Topic: Upstream Kanban and U-shaped Teams to the rescue!

  • About: The ideas are cheap, but they don’t age well. Their value rarely increases over time like the stuff we put into a composter. As soon as we realize that, we tend to rush and transform ideas into solutions. That’s not a particularly good idea. Why?

All (seriously all) organizations see that the delivery organization is usually expensive and treat it as the bottleneck. When we put more money into it... it rarely helps. Is there any way out of this insane situation? We can start treating ideas as options. They can be cheap and their execution could be beneficial, but we should probe and validate them quickly, and continuously. How? How about going beyond a Product Backlog understood as a one-dimensional list. How about we visualize it properly using Upstream Kanban. How about measuring the flow of ideas and building U-shaped organizations capable of executing product discovery and delivery in a balanced way. I will try to prove to you it can be cheaper than adding more developers to the existing team :)

19:10 - 19:30 Martin Hudymač, Product Manager at Ocado Technology
Topic: Leading initiatives

  • About: Product managers wear several hats and from time to time they lead initiatives. If a company product is a platform, then the initiative might be a cross-platform change that touches multiple products across the platform and requires the involvement of several teams across the company. Leading initiatives is a tough job and requires certain focus, skills and discipline. I would like to share my reflection on how we lead initiatives in fast-paced scalable organisations. I am convinced that there are “essentials” that should be common for various situations and circumstances. Get to know Martin better by reading his blog
