What this is
This is a true beginner, hands-on workshop where we will walk you step-by-step through setting up your own OpenClaw agent.
You will leave with a working setup (or very close to it).
We’re moving beyond "watching" and getting into the "doing."

In-Person vs Virtual (Read Carefully)
We’re running this as a hybrid event:

  • 🧑‍💻 In-person (LIMITED to 30 people)
  • First 30 RSVPs only
  • Waitlist enabled after that
  • Bring your laptop + environment ready to go
  • Prerequisites must be completed prior to the event (We’ll send homework ahead of time)
  • You’re expected to follow along and set everything up live
  • Note: if you sign up for in-person, you will be asked to confirm your seat as the event gets closer. No reply will forfeit your seat.

💻 Virtual (Unlimited)

  • For those who want to watch, learn, or follow along later
  • Recommended if you’re not fully prepped for hands-on setup
  • Recommended if you are installing on a desktop or Mac Mini that you can’t bring with you

👉 Please do NOT take an in-person seat unless you plan to actively participate.

If your plans change:

  • Update your RSVP ASAP, allow someone else to come!
  • This is a high-demand, capacity-constrained session

Who this is for

  • PMs, builders, and operators who want practical AI leverage
  • People who have heard about agents and want to actually set one up
  • Beginners who want a guided, step-by-step experience

What we'll cover (time permitting)
We’ll go as far as we can in the time:

  • OpenClaw setup (local or cloud)
  • Agent configuration + identity
  • Tour of files and capabilities
  • Basic security / sandboxing
  • Model access (bring your API keys)
  • Internet access (search, fetch, browsing modes)
  • Intro to automation (cron / scheduled tasks / heartbeat)

We may also demo:

  • Telegram integration (will provide step-by-step instructions to set up after)
  • Dedicated Google account/profile for your agent
  • Real-world use cases you can steal
  • Additional tooling and extensions

👉 We will NOT cover:

  • Railway or Vercel setup (if you’re going to be building apps)
  • Supabase setup
  • Google Workspace setup (OAuth)
  • Advanced security
  • Context or memory (outside of what comes out of the box)
  • Multi-agent setups
  • Agent skills

Required: Pre-Workshop Setup
If you are attending in person, you must come prepared.
We’ll send home a step-by-step instructions document to complete ahead of time, but here are some things we anticipate you will need to complete before the event:
1. Decide where your OpenClaw will run

  • Local machine OR cloud instance (your choice)
  • Make sure you have access and permissions ready

2. Install core dependencies

  • Node .js (requires Homebrew)
  • Python
  • Git
  • npm or pnpm
  • If cloud setup, have cloud account ready

3. Optional (advanced)

  • If using Docker (or similar), have it fully set up already
  • We will NOT walk through Docker setup during the session

4. Prepare your “Agent Context” information (highly recommended)
Think of this as onboarding your agent to you. Some suggestions (not required):

  • Your work history / background
  • Your goals + priorities
  • Current workstreams
  • Preferences + working style
  • What you want help with

Tip: You can use your LLM of choice to generate a clean “context dump” document for your OpenClaw agent.

5. Optional but fun

  • Pick a name for your agent
  • Think about how you want it to behave (direct vs diplomatic, strategic vs tactical, concise vs thorough, treat me like a non-techie vs assume I’m technically legit, etc.)

📄 We’ll share a prep doc ahead of time with more detail.

What to expect

  • Fast-paced, slightly chaotic (in a good way)
  • Minimal networking—we’re here to build
  • Hands-on support + live troubleshooting
  • You may not finish everything, but you’ll leave with:
  • A working foundation
  • Clear next steps
  • Documentation to continue on your own

Logistics
📍 Location: Ombud (Denver)
📅 Date: May 13
⏰ Time: 5:30-7:30

  • Be on time! No, BE EARLY! You don’t want to get behind in the workshop
  • Minimal networking ahead of time (not like our typical events)
  • Light snacks + drinks provided
  • Ombud beer taps available 🍻
  • Parking is tight → arrive early

Final note
This session is intentionally practical.
The goal isn’t to understand AI agents.
The goal is to leave with one.
