Open House at RI Computer Museum's New Home in Warwick!

Details

Providence Geeks is back after a too-long hiatus, and once again, we've joined forces with the RI Computer Museum (RICM) for an evening of fun.

RICM has huge news: a new location for the Learning Lab right off Route 2 in Warwick (adjacent to Ginsu Way)! The new location is larger, has more computers, and features many more hands-on exhibits from RI Museum of Science and Art (RIMOSA), which merged with RICM recently.

But wait, there's more! The open house will feature a demonstration of Spacewar!, a combat game set in space that dates back to 1962 (older kids 50 and up will remember this one). This won't be some game running on an emulator. It's running on our vintage PDP-12!

Act now and you'll also get to play with more modern games that will resonate with our younger visitors: learn how to use an Atari! Explore virtual and augmented reality! Make something on a 3D printer!

How much would you pay? What if we told you absolutely nothing! RICM would appreciate any donations, of course, but this event is free!

Visit the RICM website for detailed directions. The Learning Lab is located at 1755 Bald Hill Road, Warwick, RI 02886. We are in the back of the building (behind La-Z-Boy Furniture).

RICM will be providing food and soft beverages for the event, but there are many take-out restaurants nearby if you desire something specific. We will not be providing alcoholic beverages, but it will be a BYOB event. However, please bear in mind that we will have guests of all ages!
