What we’re about
Going to the movies used to be a thing I did by myself. But lately I've rediscovered how much fun it is to go with friends and to talk about it with them afterwards. So, here we are!
Providence Movie Club is a group where we'll go to a movie and then grab a drink after it's over to hang out and chat. I'm pretty omnivorous with my movie taste, so one week we could see something at the Avon, and the next be front and center at Morbius. Post-movie will change as well and hit bars, coffee shops, breweries, boba tea places, etc.
Don't worry about being a film expert or anything. I imagine conversations will go like most book clubs where you talk about the book for seven minutes and then everyone drops it.
See you at the movies!

Studio Ghibli Fest is back, baby! Seeing Ghibli films on the big screen is always one of my favorite experiences. And so I'm excited for our next Movie Club event where we're seeing Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind! This is an early Miyazaki, made in 1984 before Studio Ghibli was even founded. After a global war, the seaside kingdom known as the Valley of the Wind remains one of the last strongholds on Earth untouched by a poisonous jungle and the powerful insects that guard it. Led by the courageous Princess Nausicaä, the people of the Valley engage in an epic struggle to restore the bond between humanity and Earth.
Join us on Sunday, May 19th for the 7:00pm showing of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind at Providence Place Cinemas. Afterwards, we'll head to The Wild Colonial for drinks. Programming note: this will be the dubbed version. Sry!
Meet by the group of tables across from the concession stand at 6:45pm. We'll go into the theater when it starts at 7:00pm and meet outside the door when it's finished. Feel free to drop a comment or chat if you're running late.
