The Dying Rehearsal: Yogic Practice for the Ketamine State at the End of Life
Robin Silver and I are teaching this three-hour online workshop for End of Life Psychedelic Care. Registration is through EOLPC, not Meetup: https://go.eolpc.org/the-dying-rehearsal. It's donation-based with a $10 minimum, and every dollar supports EOLPC's work.
Ketamine is often described as the psychedelic experience closest to a near-death experience, and end-of-life workers sometimes call a ketamine session a rehearsal for dying. This workshop takes that literally: a substance-free rehearsal of a ketamine journey, from preparation through journey to integration. No ketamine or other medicine is used.
Preparation: breath and body awareness, an intention, a personal homecoming phrase and body-breath anchor, a brief mortality reflection, an altar, and a "before" drawing.
Journey: the dissolution of the elements (earth, water, fire, air), each invoked and released through breath and yogic practices of letting go.
Rest: guided yoga nidra.
Integration: meaning-making, returning to your anchor, ways to carry the practice into daily life, and an "after" drawing.
Then reflections and Q&A.
For end-of-life practitioners (palliative and hospice care, chaplains, doulas), for people living with serious illness, grief, aging or their own mortality, and for the people who love and care for them. No yoga experience needed. Bring a quiet space and, if you like, a candle, a few things for an altar, and paper and something to draw with.
Best experienced live. The recording goes to all registrants within 24–48 hours.
A workshop by the Psychedelic Yoga Research Collective, presented by End of Life Psychedelic Care.
