What we’re about
Welcome: To the beta version of the next generation of the original…Psychedelic Society. Shhh…we’re a re-revolution under construction…lots more is coming in the next couple weeks. Now then:
The Psychedelic and Entheogenic Society of New York is a diverse educational and social network of people interested in exploring topics related to the active evolution of consciousness.*
Our group is curious about and explores topics related to the actively evolving role various plants and other Entheogens** play in the expansion of human consciousness.
At least once a month, we have various kinds of educational events with guests including Shaman, Psychologists, Filmmakers, Authors, Researchers, Anthropologists, Mathematicians, and consciousness seekers from all walks of life.
As we continue to build our global community of Entheogenic explorers, we have potluck dinners, and small discussion groups at a coffee shop or diner. We do things like travel to COSM in Wappinger Falls to visit Alex and Allyson Grey, or attend symposiums hosted by other groups with similar interests.
This is a group for intellectually and imaginatively ambitious people of all kinds. What it is not is any kind of party group or anything resembling anything like that.
We do not engage in any activism or advocacy of anything. We are not allied with any sect, denomination or politics.
The Psychedelic Society of New York is the original Psychedelic Society founded in 2006. In 2008, the second Psychedelic Society was founded in San Francisco. By 2012, these two chapters of The Psychedelic Society had over 10,000 members.
Soon, autonomous Psychedelic Society groups were created all over the planet. In some cases, the only thing one Psychedelic Society shares with another is the name.
There is no central organization. Or any kind of formal relationship between various Psychedelic Societies.
* - Our group does not, in any way directly or indirectly, engage in or promote any illegal activity.
** - Entheogen: A psychoactive substance — usually a plant — OR any kind of practice or activity that induces an altered state of consciousness that facilitates an experience of “the divinity that is within you” or an experience of the transcendent “divine” or “spiritual” realms/dimensions. Entheogenic inducing practices can include singing, meditation, fasting, breathing techniques, sensory deprivation, yoga, an Ayahuasca ceremony in Peru, or lucid dreaming. And much more.
