Selbstverwirklichung - Sinn und Unsinn eines Begriffs
Wachstum, Entfaltung des eigenen Potentials, Selbstverwirklichung (oder im Englischen Self-Actualization) sind Wörter, die für viele Menschen eine wichtige Rolle spielen, ja man könnte sagen, dass sich mit ihnen Glaubensvorstellungen verbinden, die einer Religion ähneln. Wo aber gehört der Begriff Selbstverwirklichung hin? Zu Psychologie, Biologie, Philosophie, Religion, zum Coaching oder auf die Müllhalde der Geistesgeschichte?
Obwohl schon Aristoteles über die Entelechie (das Innehaben des Ziels) sprach, wurde der moderne Begriff erst im 20. Jahrhundert wissenschaftlich geformt. Der Neurologe Kurt Goldstein prägte den Begriff in seinem Werk „Der Aufbau des Organismus“. Er betrachtete Selbstverwirklichung als einen biologischen Drang, als Triebkraft eines Organismus, all seine Kapazitäten auszuschöpfen. Ein Organismus strebt danach, seine Integrität zu wahren und sein Potenzial in der Umwelt zu entfalten.
Abraham Maslow ist der Name, den die meisten heute mit dem Begriff verbinden. In seinem Aufsatz „A Theory of Human Motivation“ stellte er die berühmte Bedürfnishierarchie vor. Selbstverwirklichung steht an der Spitze der Pyramide. Er definierte es als das Verlangen, immer mehr das zu werden, was man ist, und alles zu werden, wozu man fähig ist. Im Gegensatz zu Goldstein sah Maslow es als ein "Wachstumsbedürfnis", das erst richtig aktiv wird, wenn Defizitbedürfnisse (wie Hunger oder Sicherheit) gestillt sind.
Der Psychotherapeut Carl Rogers integrierte das Konzept in seine klientenzentrierte Gesprächspsychotherapie. Er glaubte, dass jeder Mensch eine innere Tendenz hat, sich selbst zu erhalten und zu fördern. Psychische Probleme entstehen laut Rogers dann, wenn diese Entfaltung durch äußere Bedingungen (z.B. mangelnde Akzeptanz) blockiert wird. Maslow und Rogers gelten als Gründerfiguren der so genannten humanistischen Psychologie, die sich weniger an Defiziten als an positiven Möglichkeiten orientieren wollte.
In der Psychologie wurde darüber debattiert, ob die Thesen der humanistischen Psychologie wissenschaftlich prüfbar sind. Kann man Selbstverwirklichung wirklich messen? Was "volles Potenzial" bedeutet, ist subjektiv. Für den einen ist es das Malen von Meisterwerken, für den anderen die Erziehung von Kindern. Kritiker werfen dem Konzept vor, sehr westlich und individualistisch geprägt zu sein. In kollektivistischen Kulturen wird "Selbstverwirklichung" oft durch den Beitrag zur Gemeinschaft definiert, nicht durch die eigene Entfaltung. Die humanistische Psychologie verschwand zusammen mit ihren Therapien aus den Universitäten und Ausbildungsstellen.
Die so genannte Positive Psychologie versucht, das Erbe anzutreten. Moderne Forscher dieser Richtung haben das Konzept in messbare Faktoren zerlegt: Autonomie, Kompetenz und soziale Eingebundenheit. Diese drei Faktoren sind empirisch extrem gut belegt und gelten als moderne, wissenschaftliche Entsprechung der Selbstverwirklichung.
Was aber wird aus der Idee, dass wir ein Potential in uns tragen, dass es zu entfalten gilt?
Ist das – wenigstens als Glaubensvorstellung oder Orientierung - noch sinnvoll?

Wenn unser Geist Urlaub macht, taucht darunter ganz von allein Spiel, Spontaneität, Leichtigkeit auf. Aber wie kommen wir in eine solchen Zustand? Zeit, Sanftheit, Kommunikation. Mit ganz unterschiedlichen, leicht zugänglichen, Impulsen und Übungen aus Contact Improvisation, Tanz und Movement beginnen wir mehr und mehr nach innen zu horchen. Durch sowohl Stille als auch Bewegung kommen wir zur Ruhe, wecken erhöhte Präsenz und Verbundenheit. Experimentieren, Loslassen und Albernheit sind willkommen, wenn wir mit uns selbst, in Partnerarbeit und in der Gruppe in Bewegung kommunizieren.
Der Workshop richtet sich an alle Neugierigen, die dieses Im-Moment-Sein schon immer mal ausprobieren wollten - oder bereits Erfahrungen haben.
Wie ist es, wenn wir für eine Weile alles kalkulierende fallen lassen und uns einfach nur dem hingeben, was unser gemeinsamer Atem kreiert?

When our mind takes a break, playfulness, spontaneity, and lightness emerge naturally. But how do we reach such a state? Time, gentleness, communication. Through diverse, easily accessible impulses and exercises from Contact Improvisation, dance, and movement, we begin to listen more and more to our inner selves. Through both stillness and movement, we find peace, awaken heightened presence, and experience connection. Experimentation, letting go, and silliness are welcome as we communicate with ourselves, in pairs, and as a group through movement.
This workshop is for all those curious to experience this state of being in the moment—or who already have some experience with it.
What is it like when we let go of all calculation for a while and simply surrender to what our shared breath creates?
Please come in comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, without large buttons, buckles, or accessories, and don't eat too much :-)

Artificial intelligence is evolving at an extraordinary pace and is already reshaping how we work, learn, create, and make decisions. Some see AI as a powerful tool that will enhance human potential and solve global problems. Others warn about risks: bias, automation, loss of control, and long-term societal impact.
In this meeting, we will explore AI from both perspectives — techno-optimism and techno-pessimism. What can AI actually do today? How does it work under the hood? Where are its real strengths, and where are its limitations? And how should we think about its future development?
We invite both professionals and non-professionals to join the discussion. Whether you work with AI, study it, are simply curious about it, or approach it from philosophy, psychology, sociology, or everyday experience — your perspective is welcome.

This group is dedicated to **Conscious Connected Breathwork**, a powerful somatic practice for deep emotional release (nervous system release). Intense states of awareness are possible.
Through **conscious, connected breathing**, rhythmic music, and guided facilitation, participants are invited to access deeper layers of awareness, release stored stress and emotions, and reconnect with their inner resources.
There are **no substances involved**. The work is grounded, body-based, and trauma-aware.
Price is only for the room.
### This group is for you if you want to:

* explore non-ordinary states of consciousness through breath

Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better!
It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading.
The usual agenda:
- Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes)
- Silent reading (~1 hour)
- Discussion (~30-40 minutes)
- Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like!
You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you!

Here, together, we create a safe space for meaningful encounters. It’s all about genuine connection, deep conversations, self-reflection and the joy of being together.

GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
