After searching for a gardening group local to Punta Gorda, and finding most groups are out of Sarasota and Fort Myers, I figured, why not create one?!
Do you have thoughts of growing fruits, herbs and vegetables, decorative exotics, shrubs and the like? Have you found the details of gardening in the SW Florida environment to be a challenge?
Let's share knowledge, experience and maybe a hand or two, to explore creating our own sub-tropical paradise at home. Attend conferences and seminars, share/swap plants, demonstrate propagation techniques, attract certain wildlife, DIY projects, beekeeping, and maybe even small animal husbandry (e.g. aquaculture, fowl and rabbits)
Outside our "little plots," the lands around us are but a huge garden so why not enjoy it as well. Plans are to have pot-luck beach/park gatherings, kayaking, cycling, and walks (indoor and outdoor). Hmmm, maybe even sessions of Tai Chi or (gasp) yoga (with or without goats)? I'm going to keep it fluid.
"Green-thumbs", "Black-thumbs" and those new to gardening are welcome.
