What we’re about
The Putney Social Group is friendly and welcomes people from all over London (and indeed the World). We organise a variety of Social Events every month, usually in Putney but we do go further afield too.
Events we regularly run include…
**Our very Popular "New Members make lots of new Friends Night" - Where you get a chance to meet lots of new people in one evening! You are seated with 4 people to chat for 15-20 mins, then (a bit like musical chairs) everyone gets up and moves to another table to meet another group of 4 people. Then we keep swapping the groups around every 15-20 Minutes, to give you the best chance to meet lots of people in 1 night.
**Social Meet Ups - Where we try to reserve a separate area for the group to come together in a pub and meet other Putney Social members.
**We also run a monthly Co-Working Day for Freelancers on the last Friday of the month.
**In the summer months we have our Social Meet Ups by the river next to Putney cinema and attract 60-100 people.
Any member in our group can suggest events and we welcome certainly new ideas. We're currently thinking about wine tasting and maybe a secret cinema event, so do join the group.
We hope to see you at an event soon. All the best Daniel and the Putney Social team.

Performers get 5 minutes to read their poems.
Book early to avoid disappointment, we've already sold 2 thirds of tickets for this event, thanks!
Please kindly arrive early, doors will be open from 6:30pm, so time to socialise before the poetry starts at 7pm - if you arrive after 7pm we will not be able to guarantee entry. We aim to wrap up the poetry by 21:30 at the latest, after which you are free to leave and go to the pub with any new pals you've made.
Come join us for a night of poetry at Poets in Putney - bring your own poems or just listen and enjoy the creative vibes!
### 📝 What Happens at a Poetry Open Mic Night?
Every open mic is a little different, but Poets in Putney is all about being relaxed, informal, and inclusive.
Whether you're an amateur, a professional, or just poetry-curious, you're welcome here. You can book a ticket as a performer or an audience member — either way, we’d love to have you.
I’ll host the evening and call up all registered performers one by one for their slot. If there's time at the end, we’ll invite anyone from the audience who wants to give it a go.
### 🎙️ Performing
- You’ll have up to 5 minutes to share your poem.
- There will be a mic and adjustable stand.
- You’re welcome to read from paper, your phone, or recite from memory.
- There’s no theme – just bring your words, your voice, and your heart.
### ⚠️ Content Warnings
This is an open mic, so poetry may range from funny and romantic to powerful and raw. Some performances may include emotionally sensitive topics such as:
Grief, trauma, mental health, discrimination, violence, abuse, or identity-based experiences.
Performers will be encouraged to provide content warnings when needed. If at any point you’d like to step out, you’re free to do so.
### 😅 Not Feeling Brave?
That’s totally fine. Buy an audience member ticket and soak up the vibes. If you feel inspired on the night, we’ll offer a few end-of-show slots for anyone who didn’t sign up but wants to share a piece.
(I’ve been there myself — just watching others can help give you the confidence you need.)
### Refreshments
There is no liquor license, so no alcohol will be served at the premises.
🥤Soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on the night.
