
What we’re about
We are a networking group that focuses on Personal/Social relationships first and professional network second. A $5 meeting fee is required for all of our regular monthly events. None of our organizers receive any payment. This meeting fee is only to help offset Meetup group costs ($358 a year) and if we have any extra, we use it for door prizes for the drawings that we have at every event.
We take a little different approach to networking than most groups do. We believe building relationships with each other is much more important than growing an email/contact list and business card collection. Please take the time to get to know each member/attendee and make an effort to stay after the event to continue to network. Feel free to connect with each other outside of the group too, for coffee chats or whatever, to allow your connections and friendships among members to grow. This can genuinely and naturally lead to business transactions and referrals. :) **We ask that you please refrain from talking about religion or politics at our group events, because with these topics, people may not have the same beliefs as you, and we like our conversation to stay positive and keep all members feeling comfortable.**
WHAT TO BRING:
• Please feel free to bring your business cards, event flyers and door prizes to our meetings. You’re welcome to pass them around during your introduction.
• Cash for the $5 meeting fee for regular events or for the donation boxes at the Extra Events
• Also a pen and paper is helpful to take notes during member introductions.
• Bring layers, in case you feel hot or cold whether we are outside or inside.
Most meetings are held at restaurants and we ask each attendee to at least purchase a beverage or meal.
Member benefits include but are not limited to:
1. Access to exclusive offers and discounts given by other PWoW members.
2. Being added to our private Facebook Group where you can connect to other members and post information about your events or specials in your business or things going on in your life. :)
PLEASE NOTE - ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS:
NO-Shows & Cancellations: A networking group is only as strong and effective as the members who show up. If you RSVP Yes for an event and are no longer able to attend, please Cancel 24 hours in advance. You are taking someone else's spot who could have attended, therefore repeat offenders of canceling last minute will be removed from the group (including our PWoW Facebook page).
As a member of this group you also agree to not add our members to your mailing list without a specific request to do so from the member.
All members must live in or around (within 100 miles of) the Madison, WI area.
Please also do not advertise your business in the Meetup.com comments section of our meetings and events. You can post that information in our Facebook Group once you become a member.
Our mission at Positive Women of WI is to keep our group a positive space for our members. Should group leaders feel like you are inhibiting the ability to keep our group a positive experience and space for all members, you will be removed from the group.
PWoW group leaders reserve the right to remove you from our group at any time for any reason.
Before joining our group, please make sure your meetup profile includes a visible photo of yourself. This allows us to be able to put a face to your name, for our events. Please also include your last name or at least last initial and phone number so we may be able to reach you in case there are last minute event changes.
SUPPORTING PWoW: A $5 meeting fee is required for our Regular monthly meetings. Please bring cash or plan to use Venmo or Apple Pay - as we do not accept checks or credit cards.
