Lightning talks and hacking!

Lots of fast-paced 10-15 minute talks followed by everybody hacking whatever they found interesting.

This meetup will need a lot of volunteering from you guys. Take the floor for 10-15 minutes at a time and demo something cool. The following is the current line-up:

  1. Abhin Chhabra: Replacing bash with Python
  2. David McKeone: Introduction to Python testing tools
  3. Hasen El Judy: Introduction to Flask ORMs
  4. Patrick Golec: Abstract Submission Tool with Flask and Alfresco

Please let me or David McKeone know whether you are interested in presenting any awesome Python related project/tool/library that you know of and I'll add you to the line-up.

Looking closer at other projects by Tomer Filiba, author of Plumbum - RPyC ( and Construct ( - they are both quite interesting and have other interesting examples of Python magic ;-)

This will almost coincide with the "Boozer experience" event from the UX group. But, that one starts 1.5 hours earlier and is 5 minutes walking distance! So it all works out. I will attend both meetups!

If anyone has an opposition to me changing the date to 16th of May, please let me know. I'll wait a day for replies.

This is to bring to everybody's attention that the date has changed to 16th of May because of a conflict with the best-of-analytics conferences.

Not sure if anybody else is attending but this conflicts with the best of analytics conferences being held in Edmonton and Calgary. Would it be possible to bump to Thursday?

    May 3, 2013

    • Vincent

I'm likely going to the one in Edmonton so that's not possible for me.

      May 4, 2013

Not to mention that is going to be one long day......
