Worldwide pandas documentation sprint – Hungarian chapter

We are going to improve pandas by joining this worldwide development sprint: https://python-sprints.github.io/pandas/

The goal of this sprint is to contribute to pandas by solving issues assigned to us related to the documentation of pandas. This is an opportunity to develop software together in small teams and practice open source contribution.

Pandas is an open source Python library for data manipulation and analysis. Its popularity is skyrocketing, and it is becoming the de-facto standard for data science and data engineering. But the number of core developers and contributors did not grow as fast as its popularity, and things like the API documentation would benefit from some help.

We plan to help leave the API documentation for the Series and DataFrame classes in a perfect state.

We'll start working at 3 PM and finish around 8 PM CET.

Be advised that the 10th of March is a workday in Hungary. We welcome late comers as well, however, please arrive before 5:30 PM if you would like to join.

• > Who should participate?

As this is a coding event, we anticipate attendees who are already familiar with coding in Python and preferably with pandas.

Having experience with git, GitHub and open source contribution is not a requirement but is an advantage.

We also welcome you if you have little or no background in programming but experienced in technical writing. The organizers and the experienced members of the event will provide help with Pandas, doing Pull Requests, setting up the environment if needed. Our goal is to write software together.

We'll select attendees manually to keep a good balance in terms of experience and background if the total number of admission exceeds our capacity.

We are able to host up to 16 guests.

Bring your own computer, preferably with an environment set up to work on. This guide shows how to set up the environment we are going to work on: https://python-sprints.github.io/pandas/guide/pandas_setup.html The organizers and experienced members will gladly help you in setting the environment up on your own computer, but to save time we encourage you to attempt the setup at home.

Currently this guide is for Linux users but will be extended with information for Windows users.
