Talk: Giving AI a Job: The Real-World Rise of Autonomous Agents
We are all familiar with AI that can write emails or answer questions. But what happens when artificial intelligence is given the tools to actually do things? The tech industry is rapidly shifting from passive chatbots to "Agentic AI" that are the systems designed to autonomously execute real-world tasks, from managing complex databases to processing safety logs.
This talk explores the mechanics of how giving an AI a "memory" and a set of "tools" changes everything. Using practical examples that bridge university research and commercial industry needs, we will demystify how these autonomous systems function behind the scenes, without relying on heavy engineering jargon.
Crucially, we will also confront the risks: what happens when a harmless AI "hallucination" turns into a serious system failure? Whether you are a student exploring the future of technology or an industry professional curious about the next wave of automation, you will leave with a clear understanding of how AI is evolving to take action safely.
