Talk: How We Built a Model That Knows When It Isn't Sure

In an era of AI hallucinations and blind trust in model outputs, how do you build systems that flag their own uncertainty? Adewale Tokosi, Data Scientist at Outcomes First Group and University of Hull alumnus, shares how his team built NLP models for validating care plans in one of the UK's largest special educational needs providers, and how they taught the model to know when it isn't sure.

Expect real-world lessons from deploying machine learning in high-stakes healthcare and education settings, practical insights on model calibration and uncertainty, and what it takes to run medical NLP in production with full monitoring.
